I have an A4 and the other day when it was in the shop for it's regular maintenance they gave me an A3 as a loaner car for 2 days. It was a basic model (not many options), had teh tiptronic tranny and 2.0T engine. I founf the fit and finish to be typical of Audi, very nice, well done etc. the stereo was great, seats were very confortable and for a car as light as that (well lighter than my A4) with the 2L turbo engine it went like a little rocket.

The only complaint I have has to do with the combination of the fly-by-wire accelerator with the tiptronic tranny and the turbo - what I found was the fly-by-wire is very sensitive, you can push down on the pedal slowly bit by bit adn nothing seems to happen then all of a sudden it seems to catch and take off and with the turbo it tends to kick in quickly as well adding to the sudden jump. I found sitting in rush hour traffic - bumper to bumper - trying to creep forward I had to keep a fair bit of distance because with this issue I nearly rear-ended a couple people. You have to be VERY careful with the accelerator. You may get use to this over time - too hard to tell in 2 days and to be fair I don't think this issue is limited to just Audis - I'd think virtually any car with an automatic tranny and a fly-by-wire accelerator would have the same issues.

An easy way around this is to get a manual tranny - with the clutch you have all the control as to how the car takes off - not the tranny - problem solved - my A4 has the fly-by-wire, turbo and a manual and I don't have this issue - my car's awesome - my second one in fact and likely not my last.

As for reliability, maintenance etc - as I've said I'm now on my 2nd audi and my dad's had a couple as well and we've never had any problems and with the first 4 years maintenance free - you can't go wrong - other than gas I haven't paid for a thing on the car in 3 years so far. On a trip once in a rain storm I found my wiper blades weren't working well adn I new there was a dealership just off a particular exit - got odd went in and told them about my wipers adn they changed them for me right there - no charge - I was back on the road in about 15-20 minutes. They'll even top up your wiper fluid for you if you want to go to the trouble of taking the car in for that.

On this latest service, probably it's last of the maintenance free period - they noticed the front brakes were getting low and although the rear brakes were ok they would likely need changing before my next service - they changed all of them as part of the service - next service it would have been my cost and it would have been $1000 or so i'm sure to change the rotors & pads on all 4 wheels.

Long and the short of it - I'd highly recommend buying an Audi to anyone but only with the manual tranny. Don't like automatics on any car frankly.

I did a lot of research on this car and got one. Although I got the 2.0t version it is an awesome car. I believe the 3.2 comes with the sline package which is very cool.Havent heard of any major probs with the car yet, however do know the ac is weak and have heard of multiple replacements for the unit. I have had mine for almost 6 months and it is a blast to get into every morning. Get the cold weather package and the tech package, well worth it.

you'll decide on one set of tires for temperature better than +10C and another set of tires for chillier climate. All 3 hundred and sixty 5 days round tires does not exist! both the rubber is gentle for chilly climate or difficult for heat climate. For some motorcycles you'll get very gentle tires for better friction yet this you position on out after very little while.

This is a nice little car. It is still too new to have any kind of service record, so problems are hard to predict. The people in my local Audi club who have them however love them. They are almost a sub-club to our club. Fiercely loyal to the model and look down on us A6/A8 road hogs.
