for some reason it started saving what I search for and shows it in a drop down window when I go to type in a new search. How do I get rid of this?

In internet explorer....goto tools...then goto content...Then click settings in front of the auto complete...Uncheck all the boxes...
Click OK and then click apply.

Those recent searches are saved in your web browser. Simply delete the information that your browser collects from Google. I'm not being specific because the way you do this varies widely between browsers, but it's still very simple. Most browsers make it easy for you to "Clear Privacy Data" or something to that effect, such as "Clear History". Clearing cookies may also do the trick, or at least blocking them from google.com.
