I am a 9th grader trying to figure out what to do with my life. I have a career in mind, but I like to keep my options open so I need your help.

1) I classify myself as a creative person. I like to step back, look at what the results of my creativity, and feel good about the fruits of my labours.

2) I am the math/science type of person.

3) I have excellent grades, and I will be going to university.

4) I am very mentally driven and innovative. I like to think of new ideas.

5) I like to impress. This would be my greatest motivation.

Thx in advance!

I'm in 10th grade and would say that I'm pretty similar to what you said about yourself.

3 careers that I have thought about are:
Architect
Graphic Designer
Financial Analyst

Right now I'm thinking more of the last one or something in the Business field.

I would suggest that you take a few aptitude tests to channel your direction. And I also would advise that you don't need to figure out what you are going to do for the rest of your life at this time - most people end up changing careers (I knew someone who retired at the age of 62 and still didn't know what he wanted to be when he grew up!)

I try to advise young people to get your degree - it doesn't matter what it is in, but getting a second degree or higher one in a field that you've never heard of yet but find out you LOVE later on in life is much easier than starting at the beginning!

Hope you find something that you LOVE to do and best of luck to you!

I have a 15, going on 39 teen. When he asks this question, I remind him that a list of the 50 best jobs, one could have, today, would be very inaccurate in 10 years. those jobs available when I finished school in the 70s, probably 80% are no longer useful.
remember tax accounting may not ever be glamorous, but is unlikely to ever disappear
