How about Endorphins?
They control pain and pleasure.
They are released in response to pain.
Morphine and codeine work on endorphin receptors.
They are involved in healing effects of acupuncture.
You get a runner's high----the feeling of pleasure after a long run is due to heavy endorphin release.
