My isp is Sprint Broadband wireless and my usb adapter is a Novatel Ovation U720 EVDO. When I try to connect it finds an ip address but stops when it can't find a DNS.

Not that I know. You will need special drivers for such USB modems, that can only be installed on Windows PCs.

You can however get yourself a crossover Network cable (this is important, a normal Ethernet cable will not work), connect the Xbox with your PC, and configure Internet Access with the Internet Connection Sharing Wizard.

This way, the Xbox will connect to the Internet through your PC.

However, your PC must be running while you play, wich is a wate of energy.

I'd recommend getting a (WLAN-)Router. A normal PC uses up to 25 times as much energy than a standalone router does.

Your power bill will thank you for this.
