Explanations for Shadow People have been drawn from the fields of parapsychology, metaphysics, cryptozoology, demonology, religion, and the occult.
Non-paranormal explanations or hypothesis for the phenomena of shadow people exist, including optical illusions, or hallucinations brought on by the physiological/psychological circumstances of the witnesses.
Pareidolia, Hypnogogia,Chemical agents,Electromagnetic fields
and Neurological conditions are some of this explanations
Generally described as dark figures seen mostly out of the corner of the eye, encounters with these beings can quickly turn
utterly terrifying
Generally speaking, although typically resembling “ghosts,” the Shadow Beings are different enough from your common household spectre to merit their own classification. Although they tend to appear in human-like form, they rarely, if ever, resemble actual, reconizable deceased individuals. Whereas spirits tend to manifest as “ectoplasm,” that weird milky-white mist we’ve all seen in horror movies, Shadow Beings appear as an absence of whiteness, as though they’re sucking the light out of their surroundings. They’re also NEVER benevolent, or at least don’t act that way, whereas most typical spirits seem rather harmless.

I found it almost paranormal to read this question TODAY. I have been reading and answering several paranormal questions lately, and some of them have had me really thinking about my past. I have always had a strange sense when I am being watched, or when I am actually alone. Many times I have seen things, from just a square floating across a room, to actual faces, my dead mom, a candle light on it's own (which I also have another witness) and yes, the shadow people. I had been in a ghost-free time span for nearly a year. But lately things are starting to appear, and strange happennings are once again beginning. And lately..... I have seen many shadow people. I watch them in that "out of direct view" sort of way. AND, if they are close enough, I can feel thier presence. If you don't look at them, sometimes you can see them a little longer. Earlier today, I watched what I believe was a male form walk, legs moving, for 4-5 seconds until it was gone. Freaky stuff. But still kind of cool.

Hi, No I certainly don't think it's imagination, stress, schizophrenia or anything else.As a matter of fact, someone is looking at me through the glass in a picture,as I am typing this.I always see things Thu the corner of my eye's.I can also feel their presence in the room, and sometimes right next to me.It's spooky, and I don't like it!But whatcha gonna do?One time When I was driving,I looked in the rear-view mirror, and I swear there was a man sitting in the back seat!I didn't pick up any hitchhikers! They play mean games on me too.I'm not going crazy,it's true!Everyone that has lived in this house has seen one,but the one we saw back then was a girl, and the one now is a man.I think .I can feel the piercing, haunting eye's just glaring at me,and it gets real cold, and the next minute it'll get hot.So, and when I sat down about an hour ago,I picked up my drawing book, and written on the cover was some strange name I've never heard of.It was a web address,Obewan@ghosts.com.I don't know what it is ,I haven't checked it out yet.So think I'm crazy?I think not!

"Shadow People" are defined as ghosts or spirits that take on a shadow form, which means they have no distinctive features and basically look like a black human-shaped form. This phenomenon is most commonly found in cemeteries, and we call it "corner of the eye phenomenon" because you most often see these entities peripherally. These apparitions can be seen anywhere at any time and for any reason, and they don't always have to be a ghost; they can be a deceased loved one, an angel, a spirit guide, etc.
Some schizophrenics and other psychologically unstable people can see things like this, and it is usually attributed to some mental dysfunction in the brain.

You know what? No one can be sure for everyone. I mean, if you're doing something repetitive - then you get so bored.. start thinking/day dreaming..., you lose track of your surroundings and then suddenly WHAM you're back into reality and you THINK you see something. Sometimes, it can be something logical and nothing to make a big deal out of.
Other times however, it's harder to explain... especially if you catch it on Camera. Heh - what ya gotta say NOW huh? A camera glitch or something more sinister?
Ok, lets say you got no camera and just SEE it? Or think you see it? Well well...! It's a mixture of all of your above (you mentioned). There are a number of people who will just imagine it, some of them will have a mental illness and show signs of thinking they saw something, and sometimes it'll be stress. So, scientifically - this is all a psychological phenomena. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_people
On the other hand, if you checked out the following link, on Ghost study: http://ghoststudy.com/new5/shadows.htm You'll be forced to think that they are a type of ghost.
I'm not one to tell YOU what to believe, its all a matter of what you choose to believe. There are things out there that are yet unexplained, but there are also things out there which are not real. Me? What do I think? I think it depends on the situation/story/individual and evidence.

Although it may just be a trick of the light, of your imagination, or something else entirely, some people think that there are such things as shadow children/people. There have been multiple shows on it on various channels, such as MSNBC, A&E, and Discovery. I would recommend searching the web for it, as I know there are several reputable sites out there that can explain it much better than I can.

let's say there is a presence, for arguments sake and you haven't been watching too many horror movies and are imagining things based off of your own fear. the more you give your fears merit the more afraid you will become, lets assume the evil presence cannot directly harm you it knows that by appearing at night time as a shadow this will prove to you that it exists and you will be afraid of it, it's goal is to bring you fear, if it was able to harm you it would most likely prove that to you, it would make you more afraid of it to know that it can harm you physically. since it can only effect you mentally by making you afraid of it, you should defy it by not getting afraid. it will either have to step it up a notch or leave you alone. if nothing happens you will realize that it is either benevolent, a figment of your imagination, or something that isn't there to bring you fear. you are entitled to your own spiritual and religious beliefs. there is no reason to be afraid.

I see them all the time. Out of the corner of my eye. If I turn to look they are gone. Also when I enter a room its as if a shadow has suddenly vanished. I think they are ghosts or spirits from another dimension. I am told they are harmless.

This is quite normal people see things from the corners of their eyes often or just get a glance but when in excess it is often due to stress. With schizophrenia it is not a glance it is always there nor in the corner of your eyes, could be ghosts but I'd go with stress.
