Today, the Historic Kalakala receives another miracle, and she gives thanks to many. 71 years have passed since her first introduction and instantly became world renowned on July 3, 1935. The Kalakala may now endure into another generation, and her awesome and significant history is now honored forever. On January 27, 2006 she was listed on the Washington Heritage Register. Then, again on March 22, 2006 the Kalakala received historic significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The last I saw of the Kalakala was in Neah Bay, when we went out to Cape Flattery in 2004. I think I read that the Makah tribe sued the owners to get them to move it. Not sure where she is now. I guess I don't understand why some private owner just keeps docking it somewhere with no real intention of renovating it.

I'd love to see it renovated and put on display or even used for dinner cruises or something. I think it's an awesome piece of Seattle history that ought to be preserved!
