You know the person who asks you for your insurgence card when you go in what do I need to get that job. Do I need to have any degrees or can I just get it with no experience in the medical field?
Also how does it pay?

You usually have to go to vocational school for that. It's a rip off, and they only make 9 bucks an hour!

A secretary is not licensed by any board, so the job requirements are whatever the doctor wants them to be. He may want someone who can assist with medical procedures, so then you would need training. And most definitely you need to know to ask for an insurance card, not an insurgence card.

I live in Australia and if you want to become a medical secretary you need to complete a course in Certificate III Medical Administration.

Here is a list of what you will need to know.
Patient Registration new and old clients
Practice procedures
You will need to know about referrals and Requests
The billing procedures
You will need to know how and when to restock the treatment room and stationary

A lot of medical office personnel are Medical Assistants. It's two year degree offered at some community colleges. The pay depends on if you are a manager, receptionist, insurance specialist, etc., but certainly better than a non-degree job.
