LHS = (1/cos t -1)/(1- cos t)
= (1-cos t)/cos t / (1- cos t)
= 1/cos t
= sec t

putting t for theta

As sec=1/cos On the first side you have

(1-cos)/[cos*(1-cos) ]= 1/cos which is sec

(secθ - 1)/(1 - cosθ) = ((1/cosθ) - 1)/(1 - cosθ)
= ((1 - cosθ)/cosθ)/(1 - cosθ)
= 1/cosθ
= secθ
