You can use software line Iris NetworkTraffic Analyser to captures packets that are transfered over the hub, really speaking over your LAN.

The above software will allow you to not only capture the packets but also allow you do decode some of them.

This tool can also be very effectively used to monitor the network traffic. Which ip is using how much network etc.
