To Josh,

I like your theory, but that does not explain why C is written as "C1" instead of "A3"?

If I didnt know the answer was C1. I would have guessed A3 to be the value for C

Ok here's how it goes...

The Alphabet denotes the number. So actually A=1 B=2,C-3,D=4 and E=5.

So A13 will be 1*13=13 . Now whats the thirteenth letter of the english alphabet...? M

A1 is 1*1 =1. whats the first letter of the english alphabet.? A

B9. Now B is the second letter so B=2. So 2*9=18. whats the Eighteenth letter of the english alphabet.? R

Similarly D5 would be D=4(since D is the 4th alphabet) multiplied by 5=20. Whats the 20th letter of the alphabet..? T and so on

Hope this helped. :-)
