Your best bet would be to start having sex a couple days before you ovulate (the line on the tester will be dark, but not enough to predict ovulation and if you test every day, you'll be able to tell it's coming), and stop the day after you ovulate. Having sex more than a day past ovulation won't get you pregnant, by then, you've missed your chance.
Get checked out by your doctor though, I discovered a cyst on one of my ovaries when it was taking us a long time to get pregnant.

Pinning down your exact day of ovulation will definitely help when trying to get pregnant. You can also do this by Basal Body Temperature (BBT) Charting and Cervical Mucous. Use www.mymonthlycycles.com for charts and more information on this.
As far as your OPK go, that should definitely help you outline when you think you're ovulating. I know it detects your LH surge--so I don't think there's any "false" readings on those. If you don't detect a surge, though, I wouldn't automatically assume that you're not ovulating.
If you try the above methods and still don't get pregnant, you should consider getting some tests done.
Good luck!

Don't waste time, money, energy at the Dollar Store and being disappointed.
Talk with your doctor about ways to increase your chances of conceiving--don't be surprised if they say "relax".
Also ask them (or go to the library to get a book) about monitoring your basal temperature which is a standard way of detecting your most fertile periods/times.
It's not particularly hard to do, it will be a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of stuff from the Dollar Store, even if each kit IS a dollar; and it will help you reasonably plan/predict in advance and more CALMLY vs. checking in hindsight and having overly intense anticipation (with the resultant disappointment) about your fertility chances/hormone levels.

Yes, sex as much as possible as soon as you get a positive OPK will increase your odds of conception. Also, try charting your fertility signs each month to better pinpoint ovulation. Remember that it is totally normal for a healthy couple to take 12 months to conceive. I know its hard not to worry, but 7 months is not a sign of a problem.

Sure, it's worth a try.
But remember, don't have too much sex before the ov predicter say it is time. Seriously, if he is ejaculating too often, this makes his sperm count lower.
It took me 11 months. I wasn't trying, but we were not using anything, I was always thinking I could not have kids. hahaa, what a surprise!
Good luck, and relax! AND keep him off u, as much as possible!

Might work, but you're probably better off going to a doctor to get checked out. There might be some health issues.
