One crazy but effective thing I use to dust is Avon
"Skin So Soft". It is so effective and gentle that I use it on my antique furniture, too. Avon has great sales on this product once or twice a year, so if you buy it on sale, it's economical.

Never use water to remove dust from WOOD furniture. We have found a soft cloth with lemon oil on it does an excellant job. Locate a soft cloth, sprinkle lemon oil on it and diust. When finished put the cloth in a zip lock bag and keep it for future dusting. If the cloth feels dry, add a little more lemon oil.
Your furniture will look good and last longer.

Pledge or endust are good products. You need to find the source of the dust. Is the filter clean on the furnace, is the dryer vented properly, is the house extremely dry. If so a humidifier may be in order but you have to keep it clean. Have you recently had a renovation.

I work for a cleaning service and I always, always use a little lemon oil on a chamois cloth to dust and polish wood. If it's more dirty than dusty I use Murphy's oil soap first.

You can buy duster brushes (a stick with a dusting head attached) where the duster is made from material which attracts dust. I think mine was called magic duster or something like that. It is very effective.
