There's not a simple answer to this question.

If a person is different in a good way that's good. If he's different because he's got emotional problems that set him apart from well adjusted people in society then that's bad.

Sometimes being different is just neutral.

If people are different because they want attention that's bad. If they're different because they are strong and don't care about whether they fit into a crowd that's good.

It all just depends....

Sometimes people feel different and don't realize how similar they really are on the inside to everyone else.

Sometimes so many people work so hard to do the thing that is different it turns out everyone is doing the "different thing", and ends up being just like everyone else who tried to be different!

Depends... everyone is unique and special in their own way. If by different you mean not able or willing to follow societal norms, then it can be a bad thing. For example, Hitler was "different." He also murdered millions of people which makes him a good example of how different can go bad. There is no easy answer to your question. However, I must say, that I try not to follow the crowd. Think for yourself!

Generally, being different is good. The world would be an incredibly boring place if everyone were the same.

you have to be who you are...and if your different than others..so be it...don't worry to much about it....

if everyone was the same...the world would be a very boring place.....

my mom always said " I marched to my own drummer"...which I took as being different....and even with this.. I found a person who didn't mind my march ; )

now..just as a precautionary note....if you mean different like Ted Kaczynski ...the Unabomber....than I would suggest seek help...and yes this different is not good

It would depend on the nature of this 'difference'. If you had a penchant for wearing ladies panties or six toes on one foot - that's ok. If you were a pedophile and serial killer... then it's NOT ok.

You're probably not nearly as unique ('special') as you think. Your parents only told you that to bulk up your faltering self-esteem as a child when nobody would choose you to be on their baseball team.

GOOD, well, depending on what it is that you do (morality and legality being a matter of geography usually). It's far worse to try and be something you are not, just to be accepted by others.
