Is it possible I'm pregnant with twins? My aunt had twins, as did one of my sisters...my breasts are more tender than with either of my other pregnancies, i'm much more moody already...no morning sickness yet though (knock on wood). Stomach feels tight already....also, maybe it's my imagination, but I feel like sometimes I can feel movement. I know I'm not further along than seven weeks, because I had an IUD at the time of my last period. Had it removed to get pregnant. Could having an IUD removed cause you to ovulate more than one egg? I know I have several questions here...I appreciate the help though.

my aunt had identical twins---she's in her seventies now...so maybe they were fraternal, but looked alike. i don't think they had ultrasounds back then. anyway, my sister had fraternal twins, a boy and a girl.
also, the "movement" i feel is very much butterfly-like. I really think movement is the right word, but I know it's really early for that.

also my first ultrasound is scheduled for February 19 which would put me at around 9 weeks.

More likely what is happening is that at the third time around, your body has a 'been there, done that' attitude. With each successive baby, the female body shows signs sooner, and often more pronounced. The muscles have already been stretched, so there's nothing to hold it in as tight as it was in the first (and maybe even the second) pregnancy. Your body has become more sensitive, and likely you, more aware, of what's going on, so things affect you more. Twins is always a possibility for anyone, and even at 7 weeks, they should be able to tell by ultrasound. Having an IUD removed wouldn't have affected it, it's inserted in the uterus, and that doesn't have any bearing on if/when/how many eggs you release during ovulation. An IUD doesn't allow the egg(s) in for fertilizition or sperm in, for that matter, and prevents implantation in the uterus. Doesn't affect how many eggs are released. But your body could have released 2 eggs, or 2 sperm got lucky.

I have had similiar things happen I am 10 weeks pregnant, and feel a strange scrathcing sensation, I was told it isn't the baby moving, even though it is moving but we can't feel it yet, he explained it is the organs etc acomodating themselves, and the ovaries giving off hormones to keep the placenta growing.. The pain is like a painful papsmear... Also since about a week ago I have noticed my abdominal area bloated out and tight, everyone said we shouldn't put on weight or notice a stomache until into the second trimester, but I don't beleive them because I was also a B cup before and am now a C, super tender, sometimes so tender I cant even touch them without pain. an ultrasound in the first 10 weeks they say is important as there is less chance of mistaking the age of the baby.... after the first trimester babies grow at different rates, and telling the conception date is very hard, which can cause you to be induced before your baby is ready or leaving your baby in too long...

Last week I got an ultrasoudn and for the length of the spinal cord they told me it was a week older than I thought it was

About the IUD, I dont see how that would make you ovulate more than one egg, better to ask you doctor on that one.
Hope my experience somehow helps you with your one

Twins obviously run in your family. So, that is quite possible for you. My sister had twins, and after found out our dad had twin brothers that (way back when) died as babies. They were born in the early 1900's. As you know from your previous pregnancies, your first ultrasound is when they figure to be your 4th month. The ultrasound machine with the computer info, will be the thing that will let you know how far along you are. My son was born six days before the ultrasound had determined. Are the twins in your family (so far) identical twins (one egg/split) or fraternal (two eggs)? You probably already know this, the movement you are feeling-does it feel like butterflies in your abdomen? If so, that is the baby (ies) first kicking you are feeling. Congrats! Take care.

It is always possible. But with this being your third you tend to be more sensitive to what's going on with your body and because your uterus has already stretched twice before most women tend to begin showing earlier. Congratulations!
