Windows 98 doesnt have a System Restore option but there is a Backup Option using which you can create a Restore Point and Restore it at a later time when needed.

But that is not like the automated system restore in WinXP.

Since you have already installed WinXP you cant do anything about restoring your system.

And reg your second question can i uninstall win98. You have installed Winxp Over Win98. So 98 is the parent and XP is the child. You can remove the child and not the parent.

So you cant remove Win98. Best soution is to backup your data to a CD or DVD and format and reload WinXP.

If your hard disk is less than 10 GB consider for upgrading the hard disk also.

I'm not too sure if 98 has a restore, since it is no longer supported by Microsoft. I did find the installation instruction for XP, here they are:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/install.mspx

You have an 8GB HDD in that unit, I would suggest that you replace it with a 40-80GB HDD and then do a clean install of WinXP to it.

On your restore disk you can restore your Hard drive by booting from the CD do a NONE destructive install. If you are out of space on your Hard Drive...re-format the drive and reinstall the 98 Operating System. Make sure you have a boot disk first and set the boot sequence to boot from A drive.
