We've still got some ball to be played, but I've narrowed my coach of the year candidates to the following:
Eddie Jordan -wizards
Mike D'Antoni - suns
Phil Jackson - lakers
Avery Johnson - mavs
Jerry Sloan - jazz
Jeff Van Gundy - rockets

Jerry Sloan. He hasn't one the COY award. And with his Jazz playoffs bound for the first after missing out in the last few seasons, he is a very strong contender to bag this.

Sam Mitchell. Recently was Coach of the Month and led the raptors to first place in the Atlantic and is only 4 games back from first in the East. Look for the Raptors to make some serious noise in the playoffs!

i will flow on the different tack. i imagine the Cavs struggles antagonistic to the Magic confirmed what an extremely good interest of teaching Brown did in the course of the usual season. The team is really LeBron and a helping forged of 2d or 0.33-tier gamers. A unmarried participant, no count number how tremendous, purely can not get it finished contained in the NBA playoffs. the in hardship-free words reason Brown regarded clueless antagonistic to the Magic is because there wasn't a clue available to be got here upon. He tried a gaggle of diverse thoughts, yet they did not count number because the Cavs purely did not have everybody who ought to even come on the fringe of slowing Howard down. The Magic uncovered the Cavs as a team with a severe skills deficiency after LeBron, and for them to win 60 video games is a demonstration to me that Brown did some tremendous preparation in the course of the usual season.

avery johnson, without a doubt. Look what he's done in such a short time. I remember when the old jokes were "Call them 'allas, 'cause they've got no 'D'." and "Call him 'irk, because he's got no 'D'." Now they're one of the most well balanced teams in the NBA, offensively and defensively. They've come along way from the run and gun, offensive-minded style of Nelly ball. Not belittling what Don Nelson started.
I may be mistaken, but didn't he lead them to the NBA finals in his first full year as a coach? If it wasn't his first, it was his second.

And they're on pace to do just as well, if not better, this year. To give a team a complete, SUCCESSFUL overhaul takes a brilliant strategist and an excellent coach.
