Nerves at the beginning of the game is totally normal. Its a mark of many great players. Its the anticipation of doing something memorable. One thing before the game would be to empty your bladder and make sure u take a dump before the game...Maybe feeling sick...throw up. But drink water and wash up...none of your teammates want to smell your stench of pregame angst! Make those things a routine. As well as music that will get u out of your head...get on the field early to become one with the vibe. Or realize u have to puke again you can before game time. Meditation is good too. Some breathing through your eyelids...be your nerves..that kinda crap works too. Otherwise, central to gitters is your concern about having good results and playing well. Remember its the process and preparation that produces outcome. Not results first! Get it?! U can score 40-100 points to lose a ballgame. Anticipating the moment of greatness-like sinking the freethow to win by one, reacting in time after a turnover to swat a sure two point layup...The process is the level of preparedness that will put u in positions to do great things. Otherwise, you gotta love fundamentals-the core to greatness. Focus on the process, be fundamentally complete, and let them butterflies become you!

I think you are trying too hard to force your game. This is cliched but you have to let the game come to you. I don't know how long you have been playing but being comfortable is all about experience. By playing more, you will discover what you can or can't do and you will feel more relaxed when you play.

Remember they are your friends and just relax. Spend some time just watching yourself shoot in your mind - see the ball going in the hoop every time you shoot. (This is called visualization.) Don't "freeze up" every time you miss a shot - no one hits them all. I was like that when I first started playing, and my friends still liked me even when I "ironed" everything. But I eventually relaxed and learned to enjoy myself and enjoy the game. You will too.
