I need to buy a DC to AC power inverter. Which type ahould I buy?

The ones that deliver "square wave" power are much cheaper to build. If you are running lights or toasters or other resistive loads like that, they do fine. If you are doing anything "electronic" with the output, the square waves will noise up the system. Also, they are a problem for motors.

a sine wave is what comes out of the wall when you plug in a device.
