Is there any way to do electron configuration using only a periodic table, and not the use of the energy levels chart?

There is a periodic table with an electron configuration chart available @ www.chemicalelements.com.

The configuration chart is just one of the features available at this interactive periodic table site. Check it out!!

Hope this helps!

Poor, Poor people that think you need an energy level chart. You only need the periodic table. Follow the elements in increasing atomic number remembering that columns 1 and 2 are s-orbitals and the energy level is the period. Columns 13-18 are always p-orbitals with the same energy level as the period. Transition metals are filling the d-orbital with energy level n-1 of the period (period 4 filling 3d). Finally, actinides and lanthanides are filling the f-orbital with energy level n-2 as the period (period 6 filling 4f). Follow along....1s (H, He) 2s (Li, Be) 2p (B - Ne) 3s (Na, Mg)....etc

Only possible for Z<19, after you must have the energy levels
