I´m 20 weeks pregnant and had terrible heartburn yesterday. Last night before we went to bed I got sick and was sitting at the toilet for about an hour. This morning I woke up and drank a glass of milk, half an hour later I had to run for the toilet again (trowing up)... Did anyone else had this or is it better for me to see a doctor????

I had heartburn since i was about 6 weeks pregnant until 4 months (continuously) and after 4 months, it happens once in a while until now. Avoid sour food, do not drink milk with empty stomach. rather, eat something first and then drink milk to avoid heartburn. Sour food such as tomatos, sauces, and spicy food should not be taken. Juices that are sour or intend to get sour, should avoid or drink after eating food. You do not need to see the doctor for it. My doctor gave me zantac150 and since 6 weeks pregnancy, i took 4-5 pills a day (later worried about my baby's health). I had either to take zantac 4-5pills a day (until after 3 months) or not eating at all. so, i took the pills and tried to eat as much as i can. Without taking it, my heartburn was bothering me and i couldn't handle. i vomitted all i had eaten and had no energy at that time. If your heartburn is only one time thing, try not to take any pills. Just relax and avoid sour and spicy food. if your heartburn continuously occours, then you can take zantac75 or 150 for a relief. but do not exceed from the recommended dose. :)

You are not alone... When it happened to me, it was too early in my pregnancy for me to take anything, even over the counter.
It was badddd.
At 20 weeks, though, I was allowed to take Tums! Thank GOD!
It helped a lot.
But at the last few weeks, it got so bad, I had to get used to sleeping, kinda sitting up, but he ended up comming 2 weeks early, and wow, what a relief! I loved my pregnancy, but I sure hated the darn heartburn, and other women who never had it! LOL

There are some awful flu viruses going around. I recommend you see your doctor soon, just to rule out anything like that. I never had heartburn or bowel problems during my three pregnancies. If you have a virus... actually, even if you don't.. it will be really important to keep your body hydrated since you're losing so much fluid.

Its normal, although I would see a doctor because heartburn can cause problems with your esophagus. So just ask your doctor for something.

yep.... all normal. all i can say is tums, tums, tums, tums and more tums... my doc did tell me that is was ok to take pepcid. i did along with all the tums and out popped a 9lb. 3oz. boy... i'll always say the reason he was so strong at birth (and now) is from the bott;es of tums i ate. yes that is correct, i ate them all the time.
congrads and good luck!!!
