I have 3 children and have never spotted during the begining of my pregnancy, I'm 6 weeks pregnant and went to the bathroom today and there was blood, but it was brown, like it was old blood, if I were bleeding now, I would think that it would be red. This has never happened before, am I miscarrying or just having a light period like many women do?

Bleeding does not always signal a miscarriage. Many women spot or even bleed heavily and go on to have viable pregnancies. Some reasons for spotting - an internal exam, transvaginal ultrasound, sex or even a bowel movement. Give your physician a call. At six weeks, you may not see much on an ultrasound. Some women see their babies this early, many women have to wait a bit longer.
For now, though, take a deep breath, relax and know that many women do spot and bleed and end up with everything being just fine.

It is best to get checked. I have had one miscarriage a few years back and with that one I spotted then started bleeding. Then my second pregnancy I spotted in the beginning and it ended up being nothing. I have a beautiful 2 month old son now. So the best thing to do is to get checked out. With my second pregnancy my doctor did an early ultrasound at around 5 weeks and gave me a progestrone supplement. Good luck!

You could just be having a light period. Most miscarriages go along with pain and severe cramps along with the bleeding. If you have been cramping and notice that you are continuing to bleed over the next few days I would go to your doctor and get checked out to make sure that both you and the baby are safe.
Hope for the best!

Probably just a light period. If you miscarry you will probably start having heavy cramps and bleeding heavily, especially since you are 6 weeks along. It won't hurt to ask your doctor, though!
I hope all is well for you --

Do you have any other symptoms? If you have had the blood & are having pain, cramping etc then you may well be having a miscarriage. However, i wouldn't worry at this stage if there are no other symptoms. If you start to bleed red blood then take yourself to a doctor or ED asap.

Don't panic! I spotted too, on and off, the 1st three months.
But if it's red, and you are on a pad, get to the Emergency room.
I provided a link to click on to review some answers, I hope they help.
It's probably nothing but your body changing, as it was with mine.
Read the link.
Don't worry, relax, and best of luck to you, in your pregnancy and in having another one!

Go to the doctor.
A friend had the same experience and, after an ultrasound, she was ordered to rest for the next few weeks
