The product is called Princep. You put at least 1/4 inch of water over it to soak it in. My one boy loves to play in the dirt. If I dont use the preemergent I will probably use roundup like I have in the past.

It's very poisonous!!
So if you have dogs, cats or small children, try and look for healthier options.

I am not very familiar with princep but, I just did some research on it and it looks to be quite toxic to humans and animals. I read the label of this chemical and I get the impression it should be handled by professionals with protective gear. Not just your children but animals digging in the yard could be affected too. best to stay clear of this one.
round-up I have used for years and it is quite safe. Round-up becomes inactive when in contact with the soil , therefore no residual chemical.

There are several products, derived from corn gluten, one being amazeing lawn. Corn gluten is a natural preemergent and has the added benifit of being a nitrogen source. It is applied in the spring and fall. It is effective for up to six months. Please make the decision to go organic.

Get yourself off chemical controls. It leaches into the soil and is poisoning our world. Weeds are just plants out of place. It is more work, but you can remove weeds manually and be more fit for it. Save your kids exposure to these poisons...save our world. Be happy.

To be honest...I was always afraid to use anything like this ....I figured if it was strong enough to kill a weed..than if could be strong enough to harm a child ...so I never let my husband use anything on our yard like that...and now that kids are almost grown...I have pets... so again....he just lives with the weeds....and I comment often on how lovely the dandelions look in bloom ....which he just shakes his head at me... .. : )
