My daughter is 9 months old and a couple of weeks ago she was on an antibiotic for an ear infection. Well, she developed a bad rash and it has came and gone. I have tried dr.smiths, desetin, and aveeno. I have let her sit in bath water, and run around naked. I just don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions because she is miserable and I feel so bad for her? She is going to the doctor tomorrow because I think she has another ear infection. I just need some suggestions to make her comfy until she sees the doc. Thanks

Use plain ol' Cornstarch ... Just put some in a bowl and then use your clean fingers to sprinkle it on and then pat the areas. Use a warm wet cloth to clean her at each diaper change.

The "rash" creams are great, however they leave a trace amount on the baby's buttocks even after cleaning at diaper change time. The creams often allow underlying moisture to irritate the rash further and not allowing the air to circulate around the sores. The cornstarch will help heal the rash, and it won't sting or stick to her diaper area.

PLEASE try it.. it really does work and she will be much more comfortable!!

Since she got the rash after taking anitbiotics, it's most likely a yeast rash. Keep that in mind if she takes antibiotics in the future.

Also -- in regards to the ear infections... make sure she is drinking her bottle in a semi upright position. Many baby ear infections are caused by fluid in the ear canal. Not to say she's getting milk in there from the outside, but fluid can build up via her sinuses etc. Also make sure you're not getting water in her ears when she is bathing. The simple way to avoid that is to use a small cotton ball, rubbed with vaseoline, in her ears at bath time.

My daughter had recurrent ear infections one after another until she was about 4 when she eventually had to have surgery to put tubes in her ears. (She's 32 now, and uses the cornstarch on her babies.. )

ok first antibiotics that you give infants will almost always give them a side affect of rash and stomach discomfort also the one thing that will that will help the baby is getting some all natural garlic pills and crushing one upand put it in her cereal then crush half one up for next seven days then you need to buy some triple antibiotic ointment its sold in a tube and put on very thick every time you change the diaper keep the diaper changed frequently and you wont have to see a doctor aT ALL TOMMORROW .... I AM A VERY SKEPTICALL PERSON AS YOU AS YOU ARE i am getting. let me tell you my son and daughters used to get5 ear infections and i would get strep throat every year 2 times no crap " for real" and i met an old lady on the subway and i asked her what did she do to stay so healthy looking and vibrant she was 87 she showed me proof and she look not a day over 50 you know what she said....
she jhas never went to the doctor or hospital in her life and she told me to get a book called "natural cures and what they don't want you to know about"
I hAVE BEEN TAKING GARLIC FOR 3 YEARS AND NOT ONCE HAVE MY CHILDREN OR MY SELF BENN SICK OR HAD EAR INFECTIONS OR RASHES OR ANY ELMENT AT ALL. IT'S tru what the lady said... she said if the hospitals were in business for curing than they wouldnt be in business for very long try it on your self if you don't believe but believe me i have 4 boys and 2 girl one 6 months one 2 & 1/2 and it goes all the way up to 14
so trry it baby and you will be one step closer to happiness i havent seen a docotr in over three years and the only doctor my kidds see is the shot docotr and thats only becasue they cant go to school with out it. or i wouldnt inject that in my child either. they tell you what your child is really being injected with. get the book or just keep asking me. LOVE YOU by_by and dont you dare put a cotton of alchohol in that babys ear that sounds like they are on alcohol!!!!!!!!!

This sounds like a yeast infection caused by the antibiotics. My daughter is two months old and for the first month of her life, she had a terrible rash. I felt awful because I tried everything and it would not go away. Finally I went to www.babycenter.com and I found out that Lotramin will get rid of it. Yes, it's for jock itch and athlete's foot but they are a form of yeast and it will work on her, trust me. After going through a month of pain during diaper changes, all it took was two days and it was gone. Definately try the Lotramin, because it will cure that yeast infection, no problem.

that is probable a yeast an infection on her genitals. Our daughter develop into only on an antibiotic and stepped forward a yeast an infection. We idea it develop into diaper rash and it grew to develop into out to be a yeast an infection. Our physician prescribed a butt paste that had nystatin in it to handle the yeast an infection. you may also use over-the-counter fungal cream (ones for athete's foot). i comprehend it sounds unusual yet they do artwork each and every from time to time. As continually, examine together with your pediatrician first.

if you are going to the doc for a diaper rash i would suggest using triple paste. my son had the same thing a horrible rash that made him scream everytime i changed his diaper. at least im assuming its a diaper rash. just use the triple paste and mayb put some baby powder on her too it helps absorb moisture if there is any. good luck

She is probably allergic to that antibiotic, hence the rash. Adults would be given Benadryl but I would not recommend giving any medication until she is seen by your doctor.

Take farmacy alcohol and soak a cotton in it.... then slowly put it inside her ear. Leave is there and change constantly.
Alcohol can kill all bacterias, just dont press it too strongly into her ear or area of infection.

It may hurt at the beginning...

Oatmeal in a warm bath.

Calamine, if you have it, might help.

Bactine has an anaesthetic component, and might help numb the surface, if the area isn't too large. Don't do a large area without consulting a doc. or pharmacist.

Good luck.

Have your tried calomine lotion. Very messy, but soothing for rashes and bites and stings.
