My dell PC only has a slot for one hard drive and I need to upgrade it to a larger one. I do have a WD External hooked up via firewire that I can back up the 20gb internal on. Does anybody now how to swap the two internals out without losing any data by using the external?

Use a program called Norton Ghost. You can create complete image of your hard-drive (which is like taking a copy of it) and place it back onto your new updated drive. Unless you are upgrading to a different OS (operating system) I'd suggest Norton Ghost.

I agree with d_Khar, However the program he mentions (GHOST) is NOT a free program.

I have used Acronis True Inage for years and it is an excellent hard drive EXACT copy program.

They have a FREE 30 day trial version......
