I'm almost eighteen, and am 5'3". I have a small waist and moderate bust, and the rest of me is all right - inbetween, but not heavy-looking. Anyway, lately this has been bugging me. I'm going to start college in the fall, and have several volunteer jobs now. One is at the governernment center in my town. My height doesn't bother me so much anymore, and I wear shoes/boots w/o heels, or hardly any. But I was wondering - are there certain clothing choices I can wear (jeans, pants, shirts, whatever) to look older? I do wear makeup, not heavy, and take care of my hair, but I'm not sure if I'm being insecure or not. But I'm always being asked how old I am or what grade I'm in, and when I reply, they always look surprised. Most people - even people/guys my own age - think I'm a freshman or sophomore in high school. I'm beginning to get a little paranoid. Is there a way for me to dress to look nice/decent, but a little older as well? I usually wear flared jeans, boots, and fitted shirts.

Be who you are. You have a naturally young look, you can't change that. I am nearly 27, am small in size as well. I have walked into high schools and sometimes middle schools and have have been mistaken by both teachers and students as a new student rather than the substitute teacher. I can't change how I look to appear to be older - it's not me, I am who I am. As long as you are professional when you work/volunteer it shouldn't matter if you look 12 or 30. Don't let it get to you.

some people would die to look youger like you do. dont get paranoid. it will be alot better for you when everyone is 40 and looking 5o and ull be 40 and looking 30 yrs old. if u really want to dress a bit older ,- not that u need to...be urseld and be confident with who u are, u have to learn to value wot u have and dont give much attention to what u dont, - wear like suits...they look good and older and formal... byeeeeeeeeeee

I would just say rock your young look. I'm 20 but people think I'm 14. If I wear fancier clothes it just seems like I'm a kid trying to look older. I would say just wear appropriate clothes for the occasion and just think of how young you'll look when you're 30!
