Yes, it's a genetic trait. A widow's peak is when you pull up your hair in the front and see a triangle at the point of attachment. Did you ever watch the Munsters? The little vampire boy had a widow's peak.

Not exactly like diabetes, but depression is certainly somewhat genetic. My mom had depression, and I do too. I wouldn't blame your sadness on genes though, you have the opportunity to be happy with the right mindset. Also, you have to be able to recognize the difference between being sad and depressed. Some questions to ask yourself are: Am i still functioning normally with friends/family? Are my grades still as they were? Am I keeping this private effectively, or can people tell? If your answer to any of the above was no, you should consider talking to a counselor/ therapist about it. It is perfectly normal to get help. It is no different than getting a band-aid for a cut- all that is important is getting better. Best of luck!!! :)

It can be passed on through the Mother's genes. If you are male, look at your Mother's brothers and you are seeing yourself at their age. So I was told, by an MD. As I slowly went bald. Starting in my college years with a widows peak.

It's the graph of several functions; for example, the function
f(x) = -x^2+4|x|+5
The function is like a parabola, but the absolute value reflects it about the y-axis, giving it a downward point or kink at x = 0. It looks like the curve of the hair of some people, hence its name.
