Chantal Kreviazuk, a Canadian songwriter, covered "Leaving on a jet plane" That's the version used. You can find it on the Armageddon soundtrack as well.
My goodness, I have tears just rolling down my eyes. My ex was in the Coast Guard, and My Best Friend is in the Army. Wow..

both of them did this cover but this one is probably sophie and the title is leaving on a jet plane originally done by my man John Denver.Peter, Paul & Mary also covered it.
