The LRT (Light Rail Transit) travels along Taft Avenue, while the MRT (Metro Rail Transit) travels along the length of EDSA. They meet at a point, at the Baclaran Area/Station. This is where the MRT begins, while the LRT passes through this area since this is one of the stations that passes through Taft Avenue (where the LRT travels parallel with). These 2 trains basically form like a T in their routes because they are perpendicular to each other, and the point where they meet in the "T" is the Baclaran Area/Station.

The Manila Light Rail Transit System, popularly known as the LRT, is the main metropolitan rail system serving the Metro Manila area in the Philippines. LRT is the first metro system built in Manila. The system is operated by the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), a government-owned and controlled corporation under the authority of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) as an attached agency.

while The MRT is operated by the Metro Rail Transit Corporation (MRTC), a private company operating in partnership with the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement and not related to the LRT.

MRT is confusing! first time i rode that, i got confused which side of the tracks i'm suppose to catch the train, because there only 1 platform, unlike the LRT, it's on opposite sides. Another confusing thing about the MRT is which door to get out off on each station. when i was about to get off, i just stood at the middle of the train to see which door opens, i'm afraid to look stupid standing in front of a certain door, waiting for it to slide oepn, when the one behind me was the right door to get out of.
