I went to dr cause my knees are bad and when they went out I fell on my foot hard. it was a orthopedic dr but all he did was feel my knee and said theropy, he didnt even look at my foot or any of the xrays. I wont go to theropy cause it hurts to even move my knees and at the hospital they said moving them (exercising) would cause more damage. I over heard the dr at the office as I was leaving tell his nurse not to schedule him so full cause he had things to do in evening (my app. was at end of day) knees getting worse but worse of all is my foot. I had xray at hospital about 1 month ago but showed no break. but now I can hardly put weight on it and very sharp pains in bottom when trying to walk. could there be a fracture that was not seen first time? every day it gets harder and harder to walk on foot. I know my knees are from the cartlidge but I am not sure what is wrong with my foot

1st: I'd say get a second opinion.
2nd: see if you can get a CT / CAT Scan of your foot. Your doctor can give you a referral for it. A CT scan is a form of xray in a machine that takes pictures from every angle and gives a better picture. I had a patient the other day who jumped off a roof and landed on his feet. His heel was really sore, nothing showed up on the X-ray but a fracture showed up on the CT Scan - it was just a crack and it wasnt bad enough for plaster but he needed at 4-6 weeks of pain relief and NO weight bearing on it ie no walking or even standing on that foot.
3rd: Get your knee checked out properly, including x-rays. Some cartilage and ligament injuries dont heal properly by themselves and need surgery.
Finally, keep off your feet as much as possible, get some good pain relief and anti-inflammatories and lots of rest. Ice intermittently will help as well.

Hope that helps

This is what second opinions are for.

As you are still having this much pain, so much pain that you can hardly walk on that foot, get to an ER and have it examined. I'd suggest that if you can possibly do so, go to a hospital different from the one in which you saw that doctor. Keep pushing and pushing for answers on this one. It's YOUR body

Once you've got a diagnosis and have begin some type of treatment (even if that means a cast or brace for now), file a complaint with your local medical board.

go to another doctor if you can. if you have to go back to the same doctor reschedule and appt. for earlier in the day and just tell him that you're doing worse and haven't been able to go to therapy from fear of doing more damage! just let him know, this is your body and he's your doctor. now, he may explain to you why you need to go to PT, but at least then you'll have an explanation and know that it is indeed time to start...tell him your fears of doing more damage.

if you don't feel confident in your doctor and you have to ask for another referral, then do it!!! just go ahead and do it...again, this is your body and you're the one that has to take care of it. there was an article i read just yesterday saying that more people should get involved in there health care because there are medical mistakes made EVERY DAY. for lots of reason, including overbooking patients!

go see a different doctor?? Do you exercise?? Is this a exercise related injury?? Ice and advil may help a little bit, but seeing another physician and getting a second opinion is your best option.

If possible, pl. get yourself Rescue Remedy Spray and use it on all your painful places. And as advised already, pl. see another doctor.

Rescue Remedy is available in neighborhood health stores.
