i am currently 39w and 5d (due feb 8th) well i was wondering if someone could tell me if this is false labor or possibley would be leading up to the real thing... today i went to target with my husband i started feeling REALLY weird... dizzy and sweating really bad, i could feel the baby pushing down really hard, and i ended up using the restroom like 3 times, but it did nothing as soon as i walked out the door it felt like i had to go again.. anyways, we have been home for about an hour now. the hole time that we were at target and we have been home i have had an extremely bad back ache... sometimes its stronger then others, i have had contractions but just within the last 20 mins, and my doctor said they have to be going for an hour before i should head to the hospital, so im timeing them, they dont last longer then about 30 to 45 seconds. i am haveing alot of pressure on my upper belly but i was just thinking it was the baby pushing up cause i can feel her feet, there is more...

when i lay down my contractions are stronger, then when im standing up. i have a doctors appointment tomorrow. if the contractions continue for another 40 mins, then i will go to the hospital but my doctor told me i NEED to wait until its been going for an hour. so i thought that i would post on here and see what you guys think... is it possible that the really bad back ache is labor too, normally when i have contractions my back is hurting, but for some reason tonight its been mostly back aches, with contractions too... they are pretty strong ones, but no set patteren yet. should i be timeing the back aches like i would contractions.. like the back ache is all the time but should i keep track of when they get really strong and then when they dull back out? thanks for the help, this is my first baby and i have been in so much pain the last few weeks.

i had back labor with my youngest (who's bday happens to be Feb 8th!). it was very intense. the contractions sound to me like you are starting to go into labor! *congrats*
and that if you are still having them (as your doctor said) do go to the hospital!

Okay, well you could be in early labor. You need to have contractions at a reasonably close interval for it to be true labor. When you feel the back pain intensify, feel your abdomen to see if it is getting tight and hard as well. If it is, then yes, time the back pain. If laying on your left side and drinking water does not make the contractions slow down, then I would get up and do a lot of walking, or vacuum the floor. You can also try nipple stimulations (just roll the nipples between thumb and forefinger firmly for 5 min on 5 min off) to help get your labor going. Also, I would have a light meal if you can stand it, because you will not be allowed to eat in the hospital. Get your bags in the car just in case.

Also, if the back pain is really bad, get on all fours and slowly rock back and forth and side to side. This will pull the pressure off your lower back and if the baby is facing the wrong way will encourage him or her to turn. Stay on all fours as long as you can. Grab a pillow and get comfy. Good Luck!!

That weird, dizzy feeling is what i've always experienced within 24 hours of going into labour. The contractions you are experiencing may just be braxton hicks & that is why your doc wants you to wait an hour. When you are in labour you will certainly know about it & your contractions will be regular & even. I'd say just wait & see what happens. In the last days prior to labour all sorts of weird & wonderful things happen that keep you wondering if it's all about to start. If your waters break, you find some bloody mucous &/or you are having strong, REGULAR contractions for an hour or MORE then you could safetly say you are probably in labour.

they told me to take a shower and if it is real labor it will keep going but false labor would stop. Also time the distance between contractions and when they are regular like every 15 min or 10 min then you are probably in real labor. mine started at 30 min apart then as labor progresses they will get closer together. watch for fluid (water break) or mucus also signs of labor the back pain could be back labor time the pains when they get stronger then when they ease up. but real labor will get very regular. also if you are going to the bathroom watch for your mucus plug it looks like bloody snot. you can have your hubby or coach give you a little back rub when you are having the contractions we used a small new paint roller for that.

When your contractions are almost the same time apart I would say within a couple of minutes exactly I would go Sounds like you are but if you go in too early they will send you home and tell you to go back in If they get really bad go in I wouldnt time the back aches

It sounds it could be labor. Keep timing your contractions but if you are in alot of pain, go to the hospital and don't wait. Good luck hun.

Maybe...you certainly wouldn't be the first woman to go to the hospital and get sent home if we are all wrong. Probably not even the first woman TODAY that that's happened to. Why not just go and get it checked out. Good luck -- it'll be SOON in any case.

Sounds like the beginnings of labor to me. Yes you can have back labor, I did. If your doctor wants you to wait, then wait unless you can't take it anymore or he is just going to send you back home. If your water breaks go immeditely!!!
