I believe the reason people love the 80's so much is because there was such a variety of music that everyone loved, no matter your race or nationality. There was the great British Invasion, not to mention the birth of Hip Hop/Rap (RUN DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Dana Dane UTFO, and of course the Hip Hop anthem by the Sugar Hill Gang, The Rappers Delight") Also we got the song that will forever go down in history, and came out more than a decade before it's time is Prince's 1999. Also there were the Eurythmics, Aha which brought us Take on Me. Oh and who could forget Rock Me Amadeus, and 99 Red Balloons. The 80's will always and forever hold a special place in my heart.

in the 80s the musicians seemed to be more talented than most of the musicians today. the drummers knew how to drum the guitars knew how to play more than one note, the bass players did more than just strum away aimlessly, the singers knew how to sing and write a song. songs in the 80s seemed more to be composed rather than written. all that being said i still think the 90s grunge era was the best time for music. they played with a passion that the bands in the 80s didnt seem to have. by the way when i talk about 80s music in this answer i am refferring to 80s rock music. the pop in the 80s was also great because it broke new ground that had never been attempted before.

I think the 80's were a lot better than the 90's. But the 80's had some truly awful music too.

I'm guessing it's because it brings back alot of memories for some people. That's the great thing about music. It can take you back to a point in time where you had alot of fun. Plus the music was pretty good. Quite a bit of variety to choose from. The only down side to that era was alot of the lame music that came out then, too.

because in the 80's people made music you could dance to and sing along to in your car. these days everyone is trying to write the most meaningful/original/popular song instead of playing music for the love of it. and if you haven't noticed, a lot of songs done today sample stuff from the 80's because it was better than anything today... plus, the big hair, bright clothes, and bad videos made it that much more interesting... and besides, when are you ever again going to hear a song telling us that we DON'T have to take our clothes off to have a good time? AND drink cherry wine? point rested, baby.

I am an 80s baby too.. I like 80s music. Maybe cause it's so cheesy you just gotta love it. I think it's cause people want to relive those years.. I don't see what was so great with the AIDS and the crack epidemic running rampant.. hmmm..
Maybe it was all those bright colors and those shirts with words on them? Relax. Don't do it.

It was so original, that's why. The music then had such great beat and fantastic sounds. I also have a massive collection of 80's music, and I must say none of the current stuff can match it...
... and the lyrics then weren't crappy. LOL!
