If the acre is contained in a perfect square it would cost far less than it would if it were a strip of land 6" wide and 87,120' long. To figure out the cost of putting the fence up, measure the perimeter of the space you want fenced in, then multiply that by the cost per linear foot for your desired fence type.

I am assuming you are talking about wooden fence.
If it is 6' high, it is about $15 to $18 per running foot.
If it is just a border marking variety, $6 to $8 per r.f.
If it is chain link, you are looking at $18 to $20 per r.f.

It all depends.

If you get fancy, with curves at the top, spikes to prevent scaling by unwanted elements etc.. we are looking at extra.

You need to be more specific.

Doing it yourself? Lot of help is necessary. Couple of cases of beer and go to it. You can do it for half the cost. You need to rent an augur. Or, for a $5 fee per augur, the Homedepot contractors will do it for you and you have to buy concrete, poles wood etc..
With a few friends, it is actually fun. Or, have the concrete delivered to the yard by the concrete truck. You will still save money.

Really depends on the type of fence you want to install and whether or not you are doing the work or contracting it out.
