Ok im not saying change the election system. But if there was a show call The American candidate, and instead of winning a record deal, you win a berth to run for the president or mayor or governor, whatever elected position. Instead of singing competitions contestants debate an issue, about how they would solve a different problem every week. Then viewers vote for the candidate, lowest votes for gets booted and so on till we have one candidate. And then viewers sign the petition. and this guy runs for that position? would you watch this show? what do you think? they say more people vote for american idol then Bush? Could this condidate have any shot at winning? What do you think?.

I love the idea. It would give us a chance to better know the candidate and see how they handle pressure etc - plus it might make it possible for someone besides the very very rich to have a chance at an office.

I totally think the candidate would have a shot at winning, if he endeared himself enough to america - it would be a look at a candidate that would not be possible for others.

Peace!

In todays political and media climate, this would probably turn out to be the most effective way to pick a good politcal leader. The guys in charge would never, ever, let it happen though, because if they did, they would have to be honest and open about everything, and that just doesn't sound like someone who wants to be in power, now does it?

Those who are really interested in becoming a President must participate in the "American Candidate" so that their capabilities, skills and intelligence will be tested by the public on TV.

I like it, I would watch that show. Not sure how you would get the paper backup for voting.
