my boyfriend thinks that when black people or other races have pride events its not fair because if white people had them it would be considered racist but i don't think so. i think everyone can be proud of there race without it being considered racist. what do you think?

No. I wouldn't be offended. There is absolutely nothing wrong with pride. People should be proud of who they are. Supremacy is what I have a problem with.

Oh jeez, big can of worms there. It's like if there is an African American club in school it's allowed, but if there is a Caucasian club it's considered racist. It's because whites can't really cry racism, because we are not a minority, but in reality we are. It's screwed up, but it's because we as America try to protect other races from being discriminated against. And some races take it too far. And that's why I have such a problem with people. Did anyone see the trading spouses episode where the "God Warrior" (white woman) had to go stay with the Black guy? He was as racist against whites as they come. He was literally striving to make an all black community. If a white person did that, they would be sued for everything they got. It's reasons like that, I think the way I do.

I don't think there should be race pride events. It just divides us that much further. I think we should have human pride events. And EVERYONE gets to attend, no matter if you're religious, atheist, gay, straight, white, black, mexican, chinese, polkadotted or whatever.

well, if you are celebrating your culture than thats great, but "white" doesn't really count and that is why people become offended. Yet if you are specific, such as German pride, Scandinavian pride, etc. then its more respected. Its like saying "happy minority pride day everyone!", not a very legit statement

i have the words WHITE PRIDE tattooed on my arms and everywhere i go people automatically call me a racist. without even talking to me so i agree with him. it's a huge double standard. people are even trying to force the people who run oktoberfest to incorporate some other ethnic things into their festivities so hmongs and blacks and hispanics can be involved.
is that fair? is oktoberfest too white? i guess so.

i agree with you on that one. the only thing that annoys me is people of other nationalities have all "black" colleges. if whites were to do that it would be considered discrimination. i get annoyed with the fact that everyone fought so hard for the issue of seggregation only to have them want to segrigate themselves. how ever there are white people who do attend black colleges. i just think that race should be put aside once and for all. like me for example. i am a white muslim woman, my husband is an arab. unfortunatly even some muslims look at me with disapproving eyes as well as some white people view me as a so called traitor to the "white race" everyone is entitled to who they are, who they want to be, and to hec with any one who wants to impose their beliefs on you. a good quote for those ignorant people who want to start up useless arguments if "if i want your opinion i will tell it to you".
