It's about two families that hate each other. one day, a guy from each of the families is out in the woods doing something, they see each other and eventually end up trapped under a tree i think. they talk to each other, realize they don't know why they hate each other, and they decide to be friends. then they see some shapes on the horizon, they think it's their families come to rescue them, but it's a pack of wolves. anyone know the name of this?

It is "The Interlopers" by Saki. It is usually taught to 9th graders to illustrate external conflict (man vs man and man vs nature)
