You can go to the gym as much as you want, just don't work the muscles in consecutive days. Give them some time to heal and rebuild and don't forget to feed them. Everytime you workout your tearing down the muscle and if you do too much you will end up injuring and not making any gains. Work the muscle, feed the muscle, and rest the muscle and watch the magic happen.

The reason you feel sore the next day is because you have not cooled down properly after the workout. During exercise the body produces lactic acid which will be retained in the muscle if exercise is abrubtly stopped.
Most people underestimate the importance & duration of the cooling down period.
I teach gymnastics - in a typical 2 - 21/2 hour session I would spend at least 1 hour warm up, stretch & body conditioning before the session proper begins. At the end I would spend at least 15 minutes doing light exercise & stretching

This can be really personal preference. If you are really feeling sore a rest day can be just as beneficial, if not more, than another workout as your muscles are allowed to adapt to the new state you have introduced them too (via the big workout). It means they will be even more ready for next time. Having said that though, I sometimes find a workout, even just a light one, helps to stretch everything out and something that was sore actually feels better.

You should do things that stretch your muscles, like yoga or pilates or somne serious stretching. You can go tot he gym to do pilates or yoga, or cardio or w/e, but not more weight lifting. You should lift weights every other day, not everyday, your muscles need time to rest and to form.

yep. walking is the superb ingredient you're able to do on your sore legs. i'm undecided that "brisk" is a large concept, a cushty walk may be extra appropriate, it is going to help ease the soreness. do no longer forget some superb, elementary, gentle stretches - understanding shouldn't harm. it relatively is okay to take it sluggish.
