I recently purchased a Gretsch Catalina Club Mod drum kit. I bought it just before new years and it has been in my garage, still in the box for a little over a month now. It is currently about 6 degrees out here in Michigan and i was wondering if the cold could possibly damage my drums in any way. I won't be able to bring them in and set them up for maybe another month. Are my drums screwed? thanks in advance

It can possibly ruin the drums. My boyfriend says it will unless taken care of properly. He's not sure since the set is still in the orginal box but if I were you I would take a look.

Hello,

I also have a similar problem with space (and also relocating soon) so I only a 4 pc. set here at my home. In order to declutter, I asked my brother to keep the rest of my kit at his townhouse. He said yes but could I keep the stuff in the garage, I said you got to be kidding, right, No why he asked. I told him because of WEATHER change and MOISTURE.

They are made of wood and just like the double-wall boxes they pack and ship in they also absorb MOISTURE. Please get them out of that garage asap. That place of temporary storage is not even good for the CHROME...PITTING...may also accrue.

I hope this information is just what your looking for, GOOD LUCK.
NOTE: IF YOU GET THEM INSIDE, WAIT A FEW DAYS BEFORE OPENING THOSE BOXES.

To see part of my set go to drummagazine.com then check out "drum set of the week..Nov./6th"

I would have to say just dont try to play them while there that cold because they might be frozen and crack or something.
