Obviously a war has multiple causes, but this one ws mainly over seafaring rights and trade. Britsh ships were stopping Ameican ones and basically kidnapping american sailors and forcing them into work on their ships, called "press-ganging". The brits were also dealing with Napoleon in Europe and were resricting free trade in the area. Hit Wikipedia and type in war of 1812 to get a better explanation, since typing a long explanation here is difficult.

1. The British wanted revenge, and second chance to regain all their land they lossed back.

2. British monoarchies have always been high and mighty, thinking they were unbeatable.

3. It affected the first generation of Americans, making this a nation who was VERY familiar with war from an early start. (Note; The White House was torched during this war).
