If you have a concrete driveway, spray some engine cleaner on the oil stain and let it sit for ten minutes or so. Then hose it off with water. I've done this for years and it is usually quite effective. Acid won't work because it is a liquid like water, and oil and water don't mix.

Don't use the engine cleaner on asphalt, as it will cause the asphalt to deteriorate. Instead use an aggressive detergent like TSP.

Depends on if your driveway is asphalt or concrete. If it's concrete, use a little muriatic (swimming pool acid - Hydrochloric Acid and Sulfuric Acid Combo) acid solution, then use a power washer after that. It will clear it right up. This is a little more work, but it's the right way to do it the first time. - P.S. Don't use indoors and don't breath the fumes. Mix about a half-cup of the acid to 3-5 gallons of water. Read the label carefully on the acid. Use safety goggles, gloves and skin protection. Don't get it on your skin, face, or eyes. If you do, rinse with water for at least 15 minutes imediately.

My garage mechanic uses Dawn dish detergent. His garage looks like new floor. Just put it on, let it soak over night, scrub with a brush and rinse.

Put kitty litter on it. Let it sit on it for a while and then grind it on with your feet. Sweep it into a pile and throw it away. If there is still oil on the ground, repeat. Good luck!
