I enjoy reading the Harry Potter books. I have gotten the last 4 books right as they came out (on the day) just to be amazed on what JKR was able to create. However, JKR's last book "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" seemed rush, and well it felt as if she was just trying to fuge 600 + pages just to get the book finished. I don't think that it was her best work as it did not seem to follow the quaity in the books before that. She had too much filler of "love and romance" then action and tom-fooliery. I was wondering what everyone else thought since I was sicked by her last look. I even went online (after finishing it in 3 hrs) to find fan-fictions that where 10 times better of telling the story then JKR. So I want to see what everyone else thinks, should I contuine my tradtion of getting the book right as it comes out? Or should I wait to see if it's worth buying this time around?

If the book seemed rushed it's because most (if not the entire) plot had already been conceived in the first six books. It's like writing an essay filled with little twists and turns like a million pieces of thread going in deceptively different directions. All she had to do in the last one is tie all though threads together (in other words conclude).

All good writers begin with the end in mind. As far as I'm concerned JK began brainstorming the plot for this last book as soon as she began to write the first one.

I don't believe that you could finish a 600 page book in 3 hours. Not with grammar and spelling like yours. If you did, chances are that you skipped or skimmed the whole thing, and how could you form a serious, critical opinion of the work on that?

Book six was good. I think books three and five were the best in the series, but they were all good. J.K. Rowling is also in a position now where she doesn't have to rush. She can do what she pleases. So I think we got the story that she wanted to tell.

As for the romance, these kids are 15 and 16 years old. They are in the midst of puberty and adolescence and they're dealing with hormones that are more powerful than any magic they could be dealing with. J.K. did a good job portraying this and yet not dwelling on it to the point that it excluded telling the rest of the story. I'm not just saying this to blow sunshine up anyone's rear end, but because it's true. As a writer, I respect the creative directions she has taken this story in, and as a reader, I've enjoyed that these characters actually have a life of their own on the page.

I am sure that Book 7 will be just as good as all of the other six books. If you are a fan of the series, then you may as well just buy the book when it comes out. I have already pre-ordered my copy from Amazon.uk, just like I did with the last two books. The seventh Harry Potter book will give me something to look forward to during my continuing (and seemingly endless) wait for Clive Barker to finish the next Abarat book.

You have to get it right when it comes out. You can't let other people make up your mind about it. You have done so well to read all the other ones and make up your own thoughts about it. Don't change cause of Book 6's experience. I thought it felt rushed, but I read it a second time and made more connections with it. I know we are all waiting to see how it will end...

seriously now, will you be able to wait. Even if people think it's bad, I won't be able to rest until I read it myself

I *hope* it's the best
I hope it's NOT the last! I know it is supposed to be the last, and that JK said she wouldn't write any more HP after this one, but I hopw she changes her mind

All of us HP nuts will be out there at midnight and whether or not it is 'worth' buying, it is the 'last' one. How can we not? The 'tradition' ends with this last book.
