what spf should i put on and how long i be in the sun only like an hour right so i dont burn? I would rather tan outdoors than inside because its so expensive, but of course I have to wait till its summer tho and warms up

I also have a fair complexion. To avoid burning, try using a low SPF sun screen (10 or 15) before laying out. Start out gradually- sunning for 20-30 mins total, working your way up to 30 mins each side. This will allow your skin to adjust to the sun's rays without becoming too damaged.

Hate to tell you this, but people with very light complexions typically don't tan well, regardless of what product or method they use to tan. With your pale complexion, laying out in the sun would more than likely leave you more burned than tan. The problem is that if you use a lotion with a high enough SPF as to not burn your very light skin, then the possibility of you actually getting any sun (burn, tan, or otherwise) is low. Some complexions just don't tan. Why do you think sunless tanners were created? (and I don't really recommend those either, unless you only use them in a subtle manner.) Be happy with your light skin, as hard as that might be to do. Tanning has negative effects on the skin in the long run, and your pale skin more than likely wouldn't tan all that well anyway. Pale skin looks better than burned skin, trust me.

Tanning is dangerous for pale skin. It leads to cancer. Get some of the tanning lotions, that you can get at the pharmacy or Walmart - I use Jergens. Choose the one for fair skin. It gradually gets absorbed and colors your skin......so that is has a healthy "natural" looking color. I love it. You have to use it daily but it a moisturizer.........so it is good. It is much safer than tanning.

Get a sun-bathing bikini and put some taning oil on your skin and sit in the sun until your skin is picture perfect
