Would there be wind without sun? Then explain....

The suns energy creates wind in our atmosphere. It is created when the sun unevenly heats up the atomsphere -- molecules in warmer air move faster than cooler air, so warmer air rises up above cooler air, while the cooler air moves under it...creating wind.

Although the rotation of the earth helps create patterns of wind direction (west to east in the northern, upper latitudes) the main engine of wind is heat, which comes from the sun.
