A friend of mine (he's in his fifties) commented to me how "bad" it looked when I cuddled with a buddy of mine in public. My buddy and I aren't dating, but we're still close friends, so I didn't see the problem. I'm in my twenties, so I thought maybe it was a generation thing or something, but I've been asking around at work, with people with all different ages, and they all agree with me. Does cuddling really look bad in public? It's not like I had my hands in his pants or anything, it was simple hand holding and occassionally the arm around the shoulders. Is my friend overreacting, overanalyzing our relationship, or just plain jealous? What do other people think of cuddling in public?

There is nothing wrong with simple hand holding or an arm around the shoulders. Yep, a hand down the pants would definitely be stepping over the cuddling line.
I don't know why your friend would say that it looks bad. It is possible that he is jealous, and I can say for certain that he is overreacting.
So, yes, I think cuddling in public is fine.

cuddling is sometimes okay in public but sometimes it can be awkward so if you were making out and all that would be awkward but if you were just really close to each other and hugging, holding hands, or hands on the shoulder thing then thats fine

I agree with Abby its a no no when you are in a leg lock and he's got his hands down your blouse or in you pants or in a sexual position .Cuddling is reservered for BF / Gf relationships.Do yo cuddle with friends of the same sex? I am a guy and if I am wrapped up with a girl who is supposed to be a friend,well, she ain't no friend as far as I am concerned

If you are just holding hands with them while you walk around or just have your arm around them or visa versa that is fine in public, but if you are sitting in a public place on his lap or something that might be a little extreme. I don't think holding hands or having a arm around is bad, but anything more might seem odd in public...save that for your home.

I personally love cuddling and for me it's a sign to the other person that I'm interested in them. It seems a little weird to me that you're doing it with just a friend but hey, in China girls cuddle, girls and boys cuddle and bos only cuddle if they are REALLY good friends.

I cuddle at home, but I don't think it looks right in public, if I saw someone cuddling in public, I'd think they have issues. But maybe it doesn't look that bad.

cuddling in public is perfectly fine...i mean holding hands just bunched up on a bench...to me its cute
its when u get to the point when pople start thinking you need to go get a room

I don't see nothing wrong with cuddling in public as long as things don't go too far. I would say go for it......
