first off a team of nash and no-win-zki is not going to win because they are career losers and can't win the big one as they always choke when it counts.

see no-win-zkis casper performance in the finals

The top players in the league have shown they are willing to pass the ball if they have teamates who can do something with the ball

My 12 would be:
Kobe
Iverson
Duncan
Garnett
Shaq
Wade
LeBron
Arenas
D Howard
Ray Allen
Chris Paul
McGrady

They would win because there is no one else in the league who can take over a game and not all ofthose guys are going to have an off night on the same night

There are players who can hit 3's, play down low, distribute, rebound, defend, so many different line up combinations it's crazy

They'd win as they are young enough

I'd put them with a coach who can handle it though

Sounds like Phil Jackson would be getting championships 10-14

If you're talking the 12 best historically, I'd say it could be done. If you're talking about the 12 best today, well look no further than the demise of the American National team in their Bronze Medal efforts. True...Even though, the 12 best were not assembled on the National team the last couple of times out. Also true...some of the 12 best now aren't American. I really think that there has been a general erosion in team-play and the importance of intangibles and chemistry, so putting the 12 best together would be tough because there is just too much ego and not enough sacrifice for the ultimate goal of winning. Look no further than the cry-baby attitudes during the 04' Olympics. So, if we're talking the 12 best now, you'd have to choose your 12 very carefully in order to win 5 in a row.

My 12: Nash, Kobe, Lebron, Dirk, Yao, KG, Duncan, DWade, Arenas, Kidd, Ray Allen, Brand.

I would have to say so, but the players have to have already achieved matureness and understand to win basketball games, one must be selfless. Guys like KG, Bird, MJ, and many other old school players would definitely win the 5 years in a row, hands down. On the other hand, some players, while granted with talents, refuse to play team basketball. Some examples are Kobe, Arenas, TMac (evident by his departure of Carter and the Raptors, as opposed to Pippen staying with Jordan).

Best players who don't share the ball would not guarantee wins, shown by the failures of the recent USA Dream Teams.

i think the players of the past were over rated in the perception that they all played the right way and that everyone sacrificed for the team. that is just plain BS! i truly believe that players of this era would kick the asses of players of the 50s, 60s, and 70s... think wilt could score 100 in the modern game?... team USA did not win the gold medal in recent years due to the improved play of other countries and not the decline of NBA players.. sorry didnt answer your question, just wanted to vent out to some of the comments above

Take rigidity off Howard. additionally he Redd and Allen are the superb organic shooters in basketball and might help much extra in the 3pt branch to no longer point out he's tall for a sf 6"10 creates matchup issues. PF. Rashard Lewis - All-famous man or woman in the NBA his protection has relatively greater and he's a stable scorer and yet another stable 3 pt shooter. C. Carl Landry - may be a extra appropriate backup C for Orlando than Battie reason the Rockets dont seem to desire him and he's a beast look at what he did his first playoffs. Battie is aging. 9. No team has that form of $. And the team I prepare is wise because it performs to their strenghts in 3 pt shooting, improves their weak spot in feet shooting. provides them top benefit and grants them a protecting orientated frontcourt in Howard and Landry alongside w/ a sturdy defender in Butler.

It all depends on who is on the team, and if they play as a team and try to win and not all of em bein like Iverson and wanting to score every basket themselves and doin nothing but bein ballhogs and causin each other problems and just bein lazy on defense and not caring to play since not getting 35 PPG, like if it was Kobe, Iverson, Pierce, Garnett and Shaq it'd be 50/50 chance of winning it all, but if it was Nash, Wade, LeBron, Duncan and Nowitzki then yeah they'd easily win it all cause they play like a team and wanna win more than play selfish
