If that's all you have, then no. But a 3.6 with good SAT and SAT II scores, lots of volunteer work, leadership positions in school clubs or elsewhere, being active in several clubs, AP courses, and maybe a sport or two, then you should have a good chance of getting in.
I have about a 3.6, better-than-average SAT, and SAT II scores, I volunteer at the hospital and library, am president of CSF, was in Tennis for a year, and I applied to Berkely last november. I doubt I have an excellent chance of getting in, but maybe that's just my nervous mood.

Doesn't look good. You don't have anything special in your extra currics. You really need help there to make up for the low GPA. Berk's one of the top schools in the world. Of course they're going to reject tons of kids.
I hope you average 700 or more on each section of the SAT cuz you'll need that to even have a decent shot at UC San Diego. It can't hurt to apply though. You just have to check a box so it really only costs a few more bucks. No real extra work to apply. You never know.

My friend had a 3.9 and she got rejected, but my other friend had under a 3.75 and she got in so go figure. Although my >3.75 friend was the president of two clubs and raised thousands of dollars in multiple charity events.
My guess would be maybe? Admissions are so random.
I heard on the radio that this is the most competitive year for California schools, both UC and state. The average Berkeley GPA is 4.26. That is insane! Really unfortunate though, lots of good kids are being rejected. Their 2006 profile for Berkeley is at http://students.berkeley.edu/files/Admissions/Viewbook%2006.pdf on page 6. Compare your SAT scores to those up there and hopefully you match up well. Best of Luck!

i really think the odds are against you...to get into Berkely you have to be GREAT at something not just spread yourself and be pretty good at a few things. i was just like you in high school; i was involved, took all AP classes, and joined/ran numerous clubs...i didn't get it. don't take any of our advice to heart - all you could do is apply and hope for the best. Good Luck!!!

You can most likely get in with a GPA of 3.6 combined with community service, sports, extracurricular activities and membership in organizations.
