Baltimore has a couple great art museums- the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of art. Wonderful collections. If you are into history, the Maryland Historical Society's Museum and library are also very cool. Finally, the Maryland Science Center is a great museum with all kinds of interactive exhibits. Plus they have IMAX movies.

I graduated from high school in the Baltimore area. There is the Baltimore harbor and Aquarium. Ther is also Annapolis close by. Annapolis has the Naval Academy adn downtown Annapolis has a lot of historic buildings and quaint shopping areas near the harbor. There's also Ft. McHenry in Baltimore (where the Star Spangled Banner was kind of written - Key was on an English boat in the harbor that was in the process of attacking the fort. The Star Spangled Banner was inspired by the brave men in the fort).

And of course, you're fairly close to DC where there are TONS of museums and such.
