are thinking for themselves? After 4 years of liberal professors, liberal lectures, liberal agendas left and right. I think if you could come out a conservative I would be more impressed.
Just had seen one too many liberals say "well I graduated with a 4.0 GPA, so I'm not an idiot liberal". I wonder if they ever strayed from the liberal doctrine on campus. Did they ever write a paper on Reagan, or have any conservative talk show host come speak. I mean let him speak without a protest.

I was just reading the answers without planning to answer myself but the answer that liberals professors are a myth was too funny to pass up. According to a 2006 article, College professors vote Democrat 91% of the time. That is liberal. I have taken classes at a major university not only in 1973-1977 but took a few extra classes in 2005-2006 (hey, I got tired of shopping) & that is a liberal bunch of professors. I should have stayed quiet but at 51 - I do not do quiet well. My biology professor was the worst for lecturing on politics. He assumed we cared what his opinion was, he did influence some students though.

I'm not quite sure what you are saying, or even asking. I guess the best response would take your question/argument and ask the same of conservatives, who, studies show, have less education that liberals. Do conservatives ever read opposition material that might reflect another point of view other than their own? Do they ever attempt to engage in an exchange of ideas, or do they simply tune into Fox News becasue they know they are going to hear what they want. Do they only listen to Rush and Coulter, or do they listen to Frankin to hear the counterpoint.
The fact of the matter is, the idea of the "liberal" professor is a myth. True, many professors on varioius campuses subscrbe to liberal political thoughts, but they are rarely presented in the classroom without information and argumentation for the otherside. The idea of the liberal professor works to serve two purposes: First, it rallies conservatives and the various bases around an idea, and second, and perhaps most important, IT SELLS. It sells book, and TV air. Fox News has made an empire out of this idea.
Just some things to think about. I hope you do think about them too, otherise you would be a hypocrit.

If they say that they graduated with a 4.0, your next question is what is your major?
If they say cultural studies or recreational leadership or some other BS major (not referring to Bachelor of Science), you know why they got a 4.0. I am a grad student in physics and would say that very, very few people can graduate with a truly difficult major with a 4.0. Science is great because there is very little political bias. Einstein didn't really care if his theories supported the conservative or liberal viewpoint, he just thought that was the way the world works.

Explain this to me -you sit through classes with professors that you consider to be liberal and you come out with a conservative viewpoint. You conclude that you can think for yourself. that is fine
Someone else sits through those same classes and comes out with a liberal point of view. Why do you conclude that they could not have arrived at that point of view by thinking for themselves?
Does thinking for yourself mean that you simply reject the opinions of others? Because that sounds like it could also be viewed as an automatic, non-thinking reaction.

And what exactly is it that you think the liberals have got wrong?
Is it that they think maybe the US should not be arms dealer to the world?
Is it that they think that billionaires should pay a higher tax rate than someone living at the poverty level?
Is it that they think the number of species going extinct every day is more important number than the gross domestic product.
What deep insights of Ronald Reagan would you have them write about ... "there you go again"? The man was senile for God's sake! His idea of being witty was joking about thermonuclear war. His B movie actress wife had to prompt him so he could answer questions.
Who are you suggesting the colleges invite to speak? Maybe Bill O'Reilly? And his qualifications would be what?

that is extremely a personal determination. you should judge how a lot time you in my opinion are keen to spend in college, no matter if you pick the classic college journey, and no matter if you may be unhappy with the career course a certificate may grant you with. All that aside, it makes extra experience to get a bachelor's degree from a 4 year college (and evidently, to maintain funds you may flow to a community college for 2 years and move). maximum professional jobs require a minimum of a bachelor's degree, and many roles in organisation do no longer specify what difficulty the bachelor's degree should be in. So, for instance, in case you acquire a BA in some thing like women human beings's analyze, you may no longer be in a position of detect a job managing women human beings's analyze, yet you may likely get a job in some thing like sales. A bachelor's degree is easily worth a lot extra to employers than a certificate. With a certificate, you'll maximum possibly make better than minimum salary, yet you'll likely under no circumstances be in a position of improve any better than administrative assistant. there'll continually be those with bachelor's or better telling you what to do. in case you get a bachelor's degree, the accepted placing out sales (as of 2005, sorry i do not comprehend a cutting-edge figure) is about $40,000, and is significantly better for majors like engineering. it truly is the *placing out* sales properly out of school, and that is going to flow up over the technique your career. you'd be eligible for no less than decrease to center administration positions, and in case you play your playing cards properly you'd be eligible for even better positions. you may actually have the alternative of going lower back to college to get a better degree, like a draw close's or MBA, quicker or later later in existence. In mild of the present economy, the perfect ingredient to do may be to be in college on the instantaneous. Many agencies are not to any extent further hiring on the instantaneous, yet through the time you may be graduating in 4 or so years the economy must have circled. you may pick to do really analyze to make certain if there is any call for for administrative assistants on your section. My wager is that there is little call for on the instantaneous, by way of at least a million) agencies are not to any extent further hiring, 2) from what I have considered at agencies I artwork at, administrative assistants no longer frequently ever turn over, and three) there is at the moment a glut of overqualified unemployed those who you'd be competing with for positions.

First of all, the question should be "liberals WHO have 4 years of college, not THAT...
Secondly, liberal arts are those studies that liberate the mind from ignorance, boredom and deception, including humanities and philosophy.
Thirdly, the liberal arts university I attended invited Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, hardly a liberal by any stretch.
Lastly, education is whatever one makes of it. My brothers joined the Army and Air Force, and whatever you may think of liberals, they fight and die just like any other American.
