I'm not exactly sure what you mean. During meosis, chromosomes the shifted all over the place. Homologous chromosomes cross over to get recombination of alleles, and sometimes chunks of chromosomes may get placed on other chromosomes. Our sex chromosomes, especially teh y chromosome, show how these events have shaped the chromosomes over time.

Cross over events allow strands to recombine. Strands with multiple deleterious alleles tend towards elimination by natural selection. Strands with more favorable alleles tend to expand.
