folks in my life are sometimes very creative as they know i love simplicity and home made gifts. once i received a rock in the shape of a heart someone dug up and found now that brought tears to my eyes. another time someone made me a mug out of rice krispies treats and filled it with kisses .. heheh that was sweet ! one other time i was brought to the beach, there in the sand was a note to me .. they went there first wrote it then came back and got me like we were going together.. that was really cool. just be yourself ... give of your heart... how about a picnic in the living room with all the "stuff" you know .. spread out the blanket, some cheese bread and fruits. ( you could take turns feeding each other yummmm ! that's fun too )

I HATE those novelty Valentine presents. like the white teddy bear with the pink paws keeping a heart that announces "i appreciate you." Or a pretend rose with a "chuffed Valentine's Day" sucker in a plastic vase. Yuck! If that isn't any longer actual flowers and the "sturdy" sweet, don't worry.

Here's a couple I've used and you can do them on any occasion...
Once I went to pick him up from work in a raincoat and heels-and that was the extent of the outfit.
Or--if you like to cook, prepare his favorite meal and bake him a cake. I know it sounds corny, but it will make him feel special.

"Not an expensive thing" ? How about a little "coupon" book of all the little things he loves, but aren't necessarily your favorites? Backrub, his favorite meal, movie night where he picks... that kind of thing... along with other, more personal ones.. LOL
